DVD Movie Factory

Q: How can I record 6 hours of video onto a DVD?

A: Use DVD Movie Factory software
DVD Movie Factory is flexible in being able to control file size.
Start new project (choose DVD).
Click on the check marked box on the bottom left of the screen.
Go to 'Change MPEG settings'
Make sure the 'do not convert MPEG compliant file' is unchecked.
Select 'CIF,352x240,1500kbps,6 hrs per DVD' or *customize

* customize
choose resolution under 'Frame size'
compression -- here you can choose a specific bit rate.
MPEG1 audio is much smaller than LPCM audio but the quality is
less and has less compatibility with stand alone DVD players.

Please try the following steps:

4.Next ,you could select menu template then go to next step to burn .

Q: I can't burn a DVD successfully if my project is closed on a 4.4GB such as 4.2/4.4GB that DVD MovieFactory 2 shows the size in the project and get error: "Disc space is not enough. Insert a new disc to retry, or press cancel to stop the process." [93006:1:0].

A: Sorry for the inconvenience. Please follow the procedure below:

Please install DVD MovieFactory 2.1 Update Pack from http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf_ftp.htm
Please unzip the DMF21_CorrectSize_X.zip file into C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\DVD MovieFactory 2 program directory to overwrite the original “CvTAV.dll” and “uvmpeg.vio” files. The new updates will correct the current calculation of the estimated size in the DVD MovieFactory 2 to make the estimated size closer to the burnt one.
Please select your language to download the file.

Q: After I install DVD MovieFactory 2.1 Update Pack, I get an error "The procedure entry point? GetExtTitleInfo@CDisc@@UAEPAVCExtTitleInfo@@PAVC
GenericTitle@@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library DiscBase.dll."

A: Sorry for the inconvenience. We found the problem is due to a little difference between DVD MovieFactory 2.0 and DVD MovieFactory 2.1. Please contact Ulead Technical Support, our staff will help you upgrade DVD MovieFactory 2.0 to DVD MovieFactory 2.1 through a special procedure.

Note: When you contact Ulead Technical Support, please don’t forget to attach the error message you encounter, which will help our staff figure out your problem more quickly.

Q: Why does Ulead only allow the maximum project size within 4.4GB and not 4.7GB on a blank DVD disk?

A: In marketing terms, the DVD capacity is 4.7 GB. But, the actual available size is 4.37 GB. This is because "giga" in the real world has two calculation methods. One is 10 to the 9th power, which is 1,000,000,000. And the other is 2 to the 30th power, which is 1,073,741,824. Thus, 4.37 * 1,073,741,824 is nearly equal to 4.7 * 1,000,000,000.

Q: When I try to import a video from a DVD disc, a message "The Imported DVD video contains AC-3 audio tracks. DVD MovieFactory does not support this audio format. Please convert the audio first to a compatible format" is shown during the process. Does DVD MovieFactory 2 support AC-3?

A: No, DVD MovieFactory 2 does not support the AC-3 audio codec, so the imported DVD video from your DVD disc will have only video and no sound. Except AC-3, DVD MovieFactory 2 supports LPCM and MPEG Audio for DVD compliant videos, which we provide the information on the System Requirement and Comparison web pages.
As the message, we suggest you use some other tools to convert the AC-3 audio to WAV or MP3 file type then use "Replace Audio" function to import the converted audio file. However, you must make sure the converted audio duration fitting in with the duration of original video, or you will encounter additional out of synchronization problems.

Q: When I want to burn DVD, an error message "Generic Error from CD/DVD recording software. Please make sure the drive is ready and try again. Error: DVDR-INC-SPTI-5B-02-03-72-04 [93006:1:0]" shows, how can I fix it to burn my DVD successfully?

A: Please install DVD MovieFactory 2.1 Update Pack to fix the specified burning error.

Note: If you encounter other similar error messages, please try this update file first. If it can't fix your problem, please contact us and tell us more information including (1) the brand/model of the DVD burner and the firmware version you have installed, (2) the type of DVD media and the highest writing speed the media supports and (3) the complete error message you encounter.

Q: How do I clean up all temporary files generated by DVD MovieFactory 2 after I finish burning my videos?

A: Besides the “Convert” folder that we will keep the converted mpg files for reusing, DVD MovieFactory 2 will delete the other temp files automatically as the program is closed after you install DVD MovieFactory 2.1 Update Pack. If you do not need to keep the converted mpg file for more editing’s in the other video editor programs, you can delete it manually.

Windows 2000/XP
Delete the temporary files in the C:\Documents and Settings\*User Name*\My Documents\Ulead MovieFactory\2.0\Working\Convert

Windows 98/ME
Delete the temporary files in the C:\My Documents\Ulead MovieFactory\2.0\Working\Convert

Q: How do I change my capture folder to another drive with larger free space if I don't have a capture device?

A: After you install DVD MovieFactory 2.1 Update Pack, when you specify the "working" folder, the "capture" folder is automatically specified as well.

Q: I recently updated the ATI drivers and Multimedia Center program to the latest version. After I updated the drivers, I found that DVD MovieFactory crashes when I click "Capture".

A: We found that the problem is caused by the "ATI VBI Surface Allocator". To fix your problem, please follow the procedure below.

Go to C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\TV\.
Locate the file named "AVBISurf.ax".
Rename the "AVBISurf.bak" file.
However, it will disable some related functions provided by the ATI Multimedia Center. If you need to use the complete functions in the ATI Multimedia Center, you need to rename the file first.

Q: What's DVD-Video (fast editable) format? When should I choose it?

A: DVD-Video is most compatible with the widest range of players. Via this format, and depending on your burner, you can burn to all DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW discs.
DVD-Video (fast editable) format can be used for rewritable (DVD-RW or DVD+RW) discs only in DVD MovieFactory 2. By selecting "Direct to Disc" in DVD MovieFactory 2, the program will do "on-the-fly" capture to disc - in other words, you plug in your camcorder or other device, hit Capture, and it will start writing DIRECTLY to the disc, without using hard disk resources. If you wish to edit the DVD disc again, the software will update just the changed part without the need for time-consuming hard drive operations. There are some limitations with this format, most notably compatibility issues and there is a space limitation (30 MB in total) in the menu, background audio and project file - in which case it is better to use the standard DVD-Video settings. For as complete discussion about various DVD formats, click here.

Q: Can I import video from DVD discs?

A: Yes, DVD MovieFactory 2 allows you to import video from HOME PRODUCED DVD discs. It's as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Click Import DVD Video in "Add/Edit Media Clip" step.
  2. Locate the folder where the videos are. (For example, if you are using DVD+R/RW or DVD-R/RW format; look in the VIDEO_TS folder, in DVD-VR format, look for the DVD_RTAV folder.
  3. Click to select the video clip you want to import, and then click Finish. (Use [Ctrl] or [Shift] to select multiple videos), and wait until the capture process is complete!

Note: If you want to import video from DVD-VR formatted disc (as burned by some DVD-RW or DVD-RAM recorders or DVD-RAM camcorders) you need to install UDF 2.01. Also with the Philips DVD recorder it is possible to edit the disc by selecting the "Edit Disc" task.

Q: What is Disc-Direct?
A: DVD MovieFactory's Disc-Direct™ technology is really cool - you can capture video on the fly from a TV, DVD player, VCR, DV camcorder, and other devices - directly to a DVD disc. In "Direct to Disc" task, you choose the "On-the-fly: DVD-Video (fast editable)" option for DVD-RW or DVD+RW discs. Then capture video from the input device to DVD disc, bypassing the hard drive. But because of the format limitations of DVD-R, DVD+R and CD-R/RW discs, the program will need to capture your video to the hard disk first and then burn it to disc later. However, it is still beneficial, because DVD MovieFactory 2 will do this automatically. DVD MovieFactory 2 also offers multiple options for scene detection and menu navigation, and the ability to add multiple videos to a project.

Q: Why can't I select "Include personal folder to disc" if the recording format is "DVD-Video (fast editable) format?

A: This is a compatibility issue, because the DVD-Video (fast editable) format doesn't allow multiple-level folders to be added, and can't put the files into a root folder. If this option is enabled, some Philips or other DVD Players may have problems playing the disc you've just burned.

Q: I used Direct to Disc and selected On-the-Fly: DVD-Video (fast editable). I also added a menu and background music, but I got an error message. What went wrong?

A: When using DVD-Video (fast editable), please note that there is a space limitation (30 MB in total) in the menu, background audio and project file. Normally background audio is a larger file and will take a bigger share in this size limitation. Reduce background audio files by using/converting to MP3's or MPA's. There are many audio conversion tools available nowadays. If you are a Ulead MediaStudio Pro user, you can use the Audio Editor to convert Wav files to MPA's.

Q: What audio, video and image file formats does DVD MovieFactory2 support?
A: DVD supports the following media file types:

Import
Video: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, AVI, QuickTime,VOB,DAT
Image: BMP, GIF, JPG, JP2, JPC, PNG, TGA, TIF
Audio: MPEG audio (MPA), WAV, MP3

Export

Disc: DVD, miniDVD, VCD and SVCD movie titles

Q: I am confused about all the different DVD and CD formats. What can or can't I do with them?
